The Energy Performance Certificate (diagnostic de performance énergetique – DPE)

This is a document setting out the accommodation’s thermal characteristics and energy consumption, together with details of the associated greenhouse gas emissions.

This energy audit must be conducted by a certified expert (consulting engineer, technical centre, audit bureau, energy service provider, &c.) and is valid for ten years.

All landlords wishing to let their property, whether furnished or unfurnished, and even on short-term lets, are obliged by law to provide their tenants with a DPE when the lease is signed.
